Hunt & Hunt Lawyers in Darwin provide expert legal advice and assistance to both local and Territory wide, national, and international clients. We have a broad skill base across a wide variety of areas of law, yet small enough to provide individual care for each of our clients.
Our lawyers have a detailed understanding of the Northern Territory legal framework and court system. They come from a variety of backgrounds and are up to date with the ever-changing face of the law and legal matters in order to be able to provide our clients with relevant and targeted advice specific to their requirements.
Our clients come in all shapes and sizes; from the corporate world, to the individual trying to navigate their way through the legal minefield. Our lawyers are mindful of the costs and time involved in legal issues and litigated disputes, and are prepared to consider alternative dispute resolution strategies, as well as Court representation, to obtain the best outcomes possible for our clients. Our advices and recommendations are precise, easy to understand and provided in a timely manner, designed to assist rather than add to the confusion and difficulties to our clients’ legal issues.
We recognise that each and every client is different. We are here to help and will tailor our service to meet your individual needs. If you have difficulty getting into town, we can organised late appointments, telephone or video appointments to assist you.
HISTORY
HUNT & HUNT STARTED AS THE FIRM NAMED ELSTON & GILCHRIST ON 8 FEBRUARY 1988
The founding Partner, Ian Morris, developed a well-respected practice in Darwin and the Northern Territory over the proceeding years. Ian was a colourful character in the legal profession and cemented himself and Elston & Gilchrist in the legal field.
After a long relationship with Hunt & Hunt nationally the decision was made to change the name from Elston & Gilchrist to Hunt & Hunt. This name changed on 1 July 1997.

Hunt & Hunt is widely known for its expertise in Insurance Law, especially Workers’ Compensation but the practice has developed over the years to encompass a very strong general legal firm. Hunt & Hunt now has practices in family law, employment law, general litigation, wills and estates and conveyancing. This means that the staff at Hunt & Hunt are able to assist a client with most, if not all, of their legal needs.
Hunt & Hunt now looks to the future in a growing city and will be part of the development of this place.
